BrowseTrail

Privacy Policy

BrowseTrail keeps Chrome history organization on the user's own device. There is no account, no server, no analytics, and no way for NHR Soft to see browsing history.

Effective date: August 8, 2026

What BrowseTrail Stores

BrowseTrail is a local organizer for Chrome browsing history. When a user imports history or visits a page while recording is enabled, BrowseTrail stores browsing metadata in the browser's IndexedDB database.

  • check_circlePage URL
  • check_circlePage title when Chrome provides one
  • check_circleDomain
  • check_circleLocal visit timestamp
  • check_circleChrome transition type such as link, typed, or reload
  • check_circleChrome visit ID for deduplication

It also stores user-created tags, notes, pinned pages, collections, session names, and extension settings.

What BrowseTrail Does Not Do

  • blockIt does not read the contents of webpages.
  • blockIt does not inject content scripts into visited pages.
  • blockIt does not request host permissions.
  • blockIt does not create an account or ask for personal information.
  • blockIt does not use analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or advertising.
  • blockIt does not run a server or send browsing data anywhere.
  • blockIt does not call AI or other external APIs.
  • blockIt does not load remote scripts, fonts, or CDN assets.

Where Data Lives

All BrowseTrail data is stored in local IndexedDB storage on the device where the extension is installed. It is not transmitted or synced between devices. If the user installs BrowseTrail on two computers, each computer keeps a separate local history archive.

Permissions

history

Imports existing Chrome history, records new visits, mirrors deletions when enabled, and removes a URL from Chrome history only after explicit confirmation.

storage

Saves extension settings and local state.

alarms

Runs scheduled local retention cleanup when the user sets a retention period.

BrowseTrail requests no host permissions.

Exports, Backups, and Deletion

JSON backups, CSV files, and HTML reports are generated locally by the browser and saved wherever the user chooses. BrowseTrail does not upload or retain a copy.

Users can delete individual visits, archive visits, set retention cleanup, clear extension data from Settings, or uninstall BrowseTrail. Because no data is stored by NHR Soft, there is no server-side deletion request to make.

Children, External Links, and Changes

BrowseTrail is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

BrowseTrail includes optional credit links to the developer website. They never open on their own and navigate only if clicked.

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a revised date. Material changes will also be noted in release notes.
